Hi, I’m Carla, and I am 55-years-old. I had a bariatric surgery starting actually January of 2012, and that surgery actually wasn’t successful for me, so last July, this past July of 2013, I had the sleeve, and it has been amazing for me.

Final step I took before thinking about bariatric was when I did have to have my knees done, and I was 53-years-old and he said that he could scrape them one more time and then I would be headed for knee replacement, and I was too young, and so that’s when he said “You know, you’ve got to get some of this weight off,” and I knew he was right. When I walked, I couldn’t even walk two miles without having to stop many times in-between, and I had to think of grandbabies and my life. You know, it was kind of, am I going to let my weight take my life? Am I going to have a heart attack? So I decided bariatric was the way to go.

Since I had the start of the bariatric sleeve, or the bariatric surgery, I’ve now lost 123 pounds, and it’s amazing. I can bike ride, I can jog, I did my first 5k last week, and it’s totally amazing. I can get on the floor and play with the kids, and I’m not huffing and puffing all the time, and I eat healthy. We no longer have junk food in the house; we eat fish and chicken and just kind of try to remain as healthy as we can, and got a lot more energy.

When I was on the internet for looking to do the bariatric surgery, I came across several doctors and read through each one of them, and I chose Dr. Ganta because Dr. Ganta is very well-known and was very high rated, had excellent credentials, and I went back to my medical doctor and I asked him… I gave him a list of the doctors I had gone through, and he totally agreed with me that Dr. Ganta was the top doctor to go with, that he definitely knew what he was doing, and when the first surgery was not successful, Dr. Ganta gave me some options, that they could just remove the lap band and go from there, or we could do the sleeve, and he felt that the sleeve would be very successful for me, which it has been, and he’s just been there for me the whole time – very concerned, helping you through everything. If you’re not losing weight fast enough this way, let’s try this, and Dr. Ganta’s a fantastic doctor. He’s just a very caring person and just very… He cares about health. He cares about you getting back, getting healthy, getting out there and doing exercise, eating right. He’s just a phenomenal weight loss doctor.
